About Me
Honest. Collaborative. Artist-centered.
Hi, I’m Rachael—a producer, audio engineer, and mixer based in Nashville. My work is all about helping artists bring their vision to life in a way that feels honest, collaborative, and creatively fulfilling.
I care deeply about the experience of making music—creating a space where artists feel supported, comfortable, and able to explore freely. Over the years, I’ve found that the energy in the room matters just as much as the gear or the mix. It’s not about making things perfect; it’s about making something real.
My Background
I’ve been working in music for over 15 years, with a background in both classical performance and music production. I started playing flute at age 11 and went on to study music formally, but the studio is where it really clicked for me—working directly with artists and shaping sound felt most aligned with how I wanted to make music.
After moving to Nashville, I dove into the commercial studio world, learning from some of the best in the industry and working across a wide range of projects. After some time, I began working with T Bone Burnett as his engineer and mixer, which became a huge turning point in how I approach production. His emphasis on intuition, trust, and creative environment left a deep impact on me and continues to influence how I work today.
That experience also opened the door to film and TV. I ended up creating and producing the music for Showtime’s George & Tammy, working directly with the cast on live performances, guiding the music on set, and building the soundtrack in post. Since then, I’ve continued producing for screen—including co-producing the soundtrack for Downtown Owl.
I love the complexities of adding music to a visual medium; each scene is a unique puzzle that requires approaching in different ways. From the logistics of shooting a music-related event to threading story through-lines, I’ve found that approaching film the way I approach records makes for a more grounded, emotionally connected experience.
How I Work
My priority is creating a space that feels calm, open, and easy to be in—because when people feel disarmed and understood, they don’t have to perform. They just get to create.
I like to get a feel for how each artist works best—what makes them feel supported, what inspires them, and how they like to communicate their ideas. That can look like a conversation, a playlist, or even a vision board.
Once we’re in the room, I stay tuned into the artist and let the process unfold naturally. Sometimes that means offering direction or creative input; other times, it’s about holding space and staying grounded in the background. I stay close to the vision, asking questions that bring clarity and stepping in only when it serves the process. It’s never about control—it’s about support, presence, and protecting the honesty of what’s unfolding.
My Creative Approach
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all sound. Every artist, every project, and every song can ask for something different—and that’s what keeps this work interesting. I tend to work with a mix of instinct and curiosity. If something isn’t working, I’m not afraid to try something unorthodox. I’m not chasing perfection; I’m looking for something that feels right. And often, that comes from staying open and letting the process surprise you.
No two projects I work on sound the same, and that’s by design. I don’t seek a signature sound so much as music that can stand the test of time. My goal is always to help shape something that feels like an extension of the artist—something that sounds like them, just a little more fully realized.
Want To Connect?
I approach every project as a collaboration. If you’re looking for someone to help bring your vision to life, I’d be happy to connect.
